Four Generations, One Passion

At Bread Basket, baking isn’t just what we do — it’s who we are. Our story began with four generations of family tradition in the Hunter Valley.


Stewart, our owner, started his apprenticeship in 1980 under his father, Don, at Latter Bros, then the largest family-owned bakery in NSW. From those early days helping his mum in the kitchen and standing on a box in his dad’s bakery to reach the bench, his passion for baking has never wavered.


Since opening Bread Basket Kurri Kurri in 1994, we’ve built a dedicated team who each play a vital role in what we do. Our bakers, apprentices, cake decorators, retail assistants, drivers and cleaners work together to keep everything running smoothly. Matt, our bakery supervisor, brings years of hands-on experience and leads the baking team with consistency, pride and a sharp eye for quality. Lisa, our retail manager since 2015, leads the front-of-house team with the same care and commitment.


Together, we share a passion for great baking and genuine service, which is why we proudly live our motto every day: born to bake.
